This invention relates to a pulsed light source capable of effectively utilizing optical power and capable of selecting the pulse width of the outputted pulsed light. This pulsed light source has a MOPA structure and is provided with a seed light source and an optic fiber amplifier. The seed light source contains a semiconductor laser which outputs pulsed light. In the optic fiber amplifier, an optical filter separates pulsed light amplified by ytterbium doped fibers (YbDFs) into a peak wavelength-containing first wavelength component and a second, remainder wavelength component. An optical switch outputs either the inputted first wavelength component pulsed light or the inputted second wavelength component pulsed light. The YbDFs amplify the pulsed light outputted from the light switch. |
