The invention relates to an electrodynamic machine (1), which has an active unit (2) comprising at least one stator (3) and a shaft (6) comprising a longitudinal axis (7). The active unit (2) and at least a part of the shaft (6) are arranged in a housing (8). An additional casing (15), in which the stator (3) is held, is provided between the housing (8) and the active unit (2). Viewed in the direction of the longitudinal axis (7), the casing (15) has two axial end faces and is connected at the two axial end faces to a respective tangential contact edge (16, 17), wherein the casing (15) is supported on the housing (8) exclusively by means of the two contact edges (16, 17) at least in the circumferential direction.
