<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor which keeps permeability of a filter by locating a position of the filter away from a tip end side of the gas sensor, prevents crevice corrosion between a protection outer cylinder and an outer cylinder, and solidly fixes the protection outer cylinder to the outer cylinder. <P>SOLUTION: A gas sensor 100 includes a gas sensor element 3; a main body fitting 20; a cylindrical outer cylinder 40 having a first ventilation hole 41; an elastic member 131 inserted on a rear end side of the outer cylinder; a filter 50 disposed on the outside in a diametrical direction of the outer cylinder so as to block the first ventilation hole, and having permeability; and a cylindrical protection outer cylinder 60 surrounding the filter from the outside in the diametrical direction, and having a second ventilation hole 61 communicating to the filter. The outer cylinder and the protection outer cylinder are crimped at two fore-and-aft places through the filter. The outer cylinder and the protection outer cylinder are directly contacted with each other and not crimped. A rear end side crimping portion S<SB POS="POST">2</SB>is positioned within an area R in an axial direction of the elastic member, and a tip end side crimping portion S<SB POS="POST">1</SB>deforms so as to depress the outer cylinder to the inside in the diametrical direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
