<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of providing a clock having a frequency corresponding to data to be processed to an information control unit such as a CPU. <P>SOLUTION: A printer 1 includes: a data communication unit for receiving data through a network; a reception buffer 41 for storing the data received by the data communication unit; a clock generator 23; a system control unit 22; a sub CPU 21 for, on the basis of a specification clock that is specified by the system control unit 22, controlling processing associated with the data stored in the reception buffer 41; and a MAC 25 for detecting data amount of the data stored in the reception buffer 41.
