[Class 79 (iv)] In a combined chassis frame'and body underframe having box-section longitudinal side frame-members interconnected by transverse frame-members, the side members 30 at their rear ends terminate forwardly of the rear wheels or rear axle and are interconnected by a transverse box-section frame member 35 from which project rearwardly supports or brackets 36 not in alignment with the side members 30 but located between the rear wheels and adapted to carry the rear springs and a trunk housing. The side members 30 may converge at the front ends and the transverse member 35 may include oblique end portions 39, the brackets 36 being secured adjacent thereto. The propeller shaft may pass through casings 37, 38 forming the centre parts of the cross-frame members 32, 35. |
