<p>A thumb (51) and linkage assembly (150) for covering the bucket (41) of an excavator (30) is shown and described. The thumb (51) and linkage assembly (150) includes a bracket (156) coupled to a lift arm (132) of an excavator (30) or prime mover. The assembly also includes a base link (165) and a thumb link (167). The base link (165) has a proximal portion pivotally coupled to the bracket (156). The base link (165) also has a distal portion pivotally coupled to a proximal portion of the thumb link (167). The thumb link (167) has a distal portion pivotally coupled to at least one thumb (51) of a plurality of thumbs (173). The plurality of thumbs (173) are coupled together and pivotally coupled to the bracket (156). The bracket (156) includes a first lock hole (159) for locking the assembly in a stored position. At least one of the proximal portion of the thumb link (167), the distal portion of the base link (165) or one of the thumbs (173) include a second lock hole (159) that is in axial alignment with the first lock hole (159) when the assembly is in the stored position. The assembly also includes a removable pin (169) that is received in the first and second lock holes (185) for locking the assembly in the stored position.</p> |
