<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simply structured oxygen detector which can be configured with space saving and efficiently detect only oxygen remaining in a specimen. <P>SOLUTION: The oxygen detector M comprises: a metal filament 1 whose surface is covered with an oxide film; a grid 2; a power source E1 for the filament, which feeds a DC current to the filament; a power source E2 for the grid, which gives potential higher than the filament to the grid; and detection means 3 that makes the power source for the filament energize and light the filament so as to emit thermal electrons, and measures the emission current between the filament and the grid.
