<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a long-chain α-olefin highly selectively at high yield by a liquid-phase dehydration reaction of a long-chain aliphatic primary alcohol. <P>SOLUTION: In this method, an α-olefin is produced by a liquid-phase dehydration reaction of a 12-24C aliphatic primary alcohol in the presence of a solid acid catalyst. Concerning the method for producing the α-olefin, in the solid acid catalyst, the acidity calculated from an ammonia desorption amount at a desorption temperature of ≤300°C is ≥70%, in the total acidity measured by an ammonia temperature-controlled desorption method (NH<SB POS="POST">3</SB>-TPD), and the liquid-phase dehydration reaction is performed in the presence of an organic solvent whose boiling temperature is ≥230°C. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
