The contact (1) has a contact tongue (3) retained in a connector housing, and a guide section (6) arranged at the tongue by a deformation region (7) of the contact, which is punched-out from an electrical conductive metal sheet. The guide section is formed in a strip form on two sides of the tongue transverse to a plug-in direction (A). The guide section is retained in the housing and extended together with the tongue over a part of length of the tongue in the plug-in direction such that the deformation region extends between the tongue and the guide section. An independent claim is also included for a plug connector.
