[Class 65 (ii)] A universal joint having two pairs of bearing surfaces, such as 12, 16 and 18, 22, Fig. 1, to accommodate respectively tilting and rotational movements of the stud 19, is provided with separate spring or resilient members such as 40, 42 to maintain each pair of surfaces in contact. A collar 23 may be provided to prevent withdrawal of the stud and a sleeve 18 is press-fitted into the bore of the seating element 15. Lubrication grooves 33 cut in the seating element help to prevent rotation of the sleeve 18. The stud 19 may be formed from a cylindrical rod by extrusion and upsetting operations. |
