PURPOSE: A temperature control device and method for a high power laser module are provided to obtain an optimized output and wavelength by controlling a temperature according to temperature characteristics of a high power laser module. CONSTITUTION: An input unit(10) receives a start command and a reference temperature value. A temperature detector(20) detects a temperature in a laser diode. A controller(30) compares the detected temperature and the reference temperature. The controller outputs a temperature control signal. A temperature controller(40) constantly maintains the temperature of a laser diode module. The temperature controller includes an H-bridge circuit(41) and a thermoelectric element unit(42).
