<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid clogging of solid acid catalyst grains that reduce sugar contents of a liquid raw material. <P>SOLUTION: A solid acid-catalyzed saccharification apparatus 2 which is filled with a granular solid acid catalyst 2a in an immobilized state and turns polysaccharide water X2 low saccharide by being circulated through the granular solid acid catalyst 2a, includes a clogging prevention means which supplies carbon dioxide to one or both of the inflow side or the outflow side of the polysaccharide water X2. An ethanol production apparatus includes an alcohol fermenter for performing alcohol fermentation of monosaccharides obtained from the solid acid-catalyzed saccharification apparatus, and a distiller for performing distillation of the treated liquid of the alcohol fermenter to separate ethanol, and supplies carbon dioxide generated in the alcohol fermenter to a gas supply means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
