<p>The radiator (10) has a chamber (30) filled with noble gas (65), and two contacts (40, 40') inserted into the chamber. A metal component (70) contains less than 1 weight percentage of sodium, about 70 weight percentages of iron compound (80), less than 10 weight percentages of zinc, and less than 10 weight percentages of mercury, where the concentration of the iron compound lies in the range of 1.2 to 1.5 micromoles per cubic-centimeter. The radiator emits radiation in the range of 300 to 450 nanometer. The noble gas is selected from a group comprising argon, krypton and xenon. The chamber is designed as a discharge vessel.
