<p>PURPOSE: A projector and a projector controlling method are provided to prevent damage to eye sight by sensing persons being within a projection area of a projector or approaching to the projection area. CONSTITUTION: A projector comprises a projection unit(120), a first sensor, a second sensor, and a controlling unit(160). The projection unit projects images. The first and second sensors are arranged to be faced to each other around the projection unit. The controlling unit controls a projector to be operated by a protection mode when the movement of an object is sensed by the first and second sensors. Sensing direction axes of the first and second sensors are crossed each other.
