PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for manufacturing a can for a secondary battery is provided to remove burr which is a factor for generating impurities when assembling a secondary battery without deforming a can member, and to a form a good round part on an open end of the can member. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for manufacturing a can for a secondary battery comprises: a guide element(10) comprising a plurality of guide holes which accept press-molded cylindrical can elements(1) which have open tops; and a processing unit(20) which microprocesses a frictional vibration by the open tops of a can elements which is accepted into the guide element. The processing unit comprises a frictional jig(21) in contact with the open tops of the can elements, and an operation part for vibrating the frictional jig. The part touching with the frictional jig is a plane, a curved plane, or an inclined plane.
