Vane expander

The vane expander has housing (16), an inlet and an outlet for a gaseous medium, and a rotor (11) is arranged in the housing. An internal contour (10) of the housing has multiple lifting zones, which are in connection with the inlet for the gaseous medium such that the gaseous medium simultaneously expands in multiple lifting zones during the operation of the energy recovery system. The inner contour or the control slots of the housing are same for all stroke ranges. The blades (12) are guided by a restraint ring (17) to opposite side of the housing. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a method for operating an energy recovery system; and (2) a method for manufacturing a vane expander.
