PURPOSE: A method for fabricating a carbon nanotube fiber is provided to enhance the content of the carbon nanotube and to produce a large amount of carbon nanotube fiber with excellent electrical and mechanical properties. CONSTITUTION: A carbon nanotube fiber contains carbon nanotubes or carbonnanotube and polymers. The content of the carbon nanotube is 20-100 wt%. The carbon nanotube fiber is fabricated by thermal treatment of carbon nanotube-polymer composite fibers at 300-800 Deg. C. under inert gas atmosphere, or dipping the composite fiber in water, organic solvent, acidic solution, or alkaline solution. The carbon nanotube is a non-conjugated carbon nanotube or is conjugated with a hydroxyl group, carboxyl group, aliphatic hydrocarbon group, or aromatic hydrocarbon group on the surface. The polymer is a polyurethane-based thermoplastic elastomer, polyester-based thermoplastic elastomer, ionic polyester, or water soluble polymer.
