<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic transmission capable of starting a vehicle by transmitting an output of a second driving force source to wheels without requiring a hydraulic source. <P>SOLUTION: In this automatic transmission TM, elements of a planetary gear device 13 are made as a first sun gear 73, a ring gear 77, a carrier 83 and a second gear 75, respectively, in order of arrangement at intervals corresponding to a gear ratio in a velocity diagram of the planetary gear device 13. The first sun gear 73 is connected to an output side of a belt type continuously variable transmission 11. The ring gear 77 includes a reverse brake 89 for fixing or releasing the ring gear 77 itself to/from a casing 87. The carrier 83 is connected to the wheels W. The second sun gear 75 is connected to a motor generator MG.
