<p>PURPOSE: A flashlight control method and apparatus thereof are provided to restrict current amount used for emitting flashlight using a data communication state, the residual quantity of a battery, or a battery temperature. CONSTITUTION: A control unit(100) senses the current usage state of a portable terminal. The control unit controls the usage current amount of flashlight according to the current usage state. An LED(Light Emitting Diode)(170) emits light according to the controlled current amount The control unit senses the existence of communication traffic, the residual quantity of a battery, or a battery temperature. When the data traffic is not existed, the control unit determines the usage current amount of the flashlight as the set maximum value. When the data traffic is existed, the control unit determines the usage current amount of the flashlight which value is smaller than the set maximum value.
