<p>PURPOSE: An avirulent modified Salmonella gallinarum mutant strain is provided to effectively and cheaply produce bacteriophage and to simplify purification step. CONSTITUTION: An avirulent modified Salmonella gallinarum mutant strain is prepared by inactivation of SPI-1(Salmonella pathogenicity island-1), SPI-2(Salmonella pathogenicity island-2), spvRABCD, or faeHI gene groups. A Salmonella gallinarum mutant strain(SG3-d2, deposit number KCCM11009P) is prepared by deleting an entire gene group in SPI-2 of sequence number 2. A Salmonella gallinarum mutant strain(SG3-d1d2, deposit number KCCM11010P) is prepared by deleting SPI-1 and SPI-2 gene groups. The mutant strain is used for producing Salmonella-specific lytic bacteriophage. A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating fowl typhoid contains the Salmonella gallinarum mutant strain as an active ingredient.</p> |
