PURPOSE: A portable terminal and control method thereof are provided to offer functions optimized to the current location of a portable terminal by charging the battery of a portable terminal using a wireless charging medium. CONSTITUTION: A portable terminal(100) includes a display unit(151), a wireless communication unit(110), a location information unit(115), a memory unit(160), a charging unit(192), and a control unit(180). The control unit obtains the current location of the portable terminal using the location information unit when the battery of the portable terminal is charged by a wireless charging medium. The control unit searches a function mapped on the obtained current location from the memory unit. The control unit controls the operation of the searched function.
