A building block has a concrete body (1) comprising two parallel longitudinal walls (11) having upper edges (13) and lower edges (14) situated in parallel jointing planes (P1, P2), and at least two transverse walls (12) connecting the two longitudinal walls. The transverse walls have a protruding part (121) extending beyond a first jointing plane and of which the width, in the transverse direction of the block, is substantially equal to the distance between the internal faces of the longitudinal walls (11). On the opposite side to the protruding part, the transverse walls have a set back part (122), set back from the second jointing plane (P2) by a distance (h2) at least slightly greater than the height (h1) of the protruding part. The upper edges (13) and/or the lower edges (14) of the longitudinal walls (11) are ground down so that the tolerance on the height of the block is less than ±1 mm. This block is of increased strength in building work, particularly where no mortar is used. |
