The method involves determining amount of reagent remaining in tanks (1, 2) by measuring change in pressure of gas flowing between the tanks and a proportioning member (5) before and after injection of the reagent from the tanks to an exhaust line (L). Initial gas pressure between the tanks and the proportioning member is measured before and after injection of the reagent. Difference between the pressures is calculated. The estimated volume of the reagent in the tanks is calculated from the difference between the pressures. An independent claim is also included for a gas reagent storage system.
