Use of peptides from Cynara scolymus leaves, or a hydrolyzate of Cynara scolymus leaves comprising peptides, in a cosmetic composition, which is useful for treating aging of the skin

Use of peptides with a molecular weight of below 2000 Dalton, from Cynara scolymusleaves, or a hydrolyzate of Cynara scolymusleaves comprising peptides, as an active ingredient in a cosmetic composition, is claimed, where the active ingredient is intended to normalize the thickness of the skin, increase the hydration and/or reduce wrinkles of the facial skin. An independent claim is included for obtaining the active ingredients, comprising solubilizing powdered leaves of Cynara scolymusin water, enzymatically hydrolyzing using protease, separating soluble and insoluble phase, inactivating enzymes by heat treatment, recovering peptides by ultrafiltration having a molecular weight of 2000 Daltons, filtering, sterilizing the obtained filtrate, and adding an additive to eliminate the phenolic compounds during the process.
