<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a pressure of a relief valve from being rapidly changed when starting opening the valve. <P>SOLUTION: The relief valve includes: a valve body 2 having a hollow portion; a piston 5 arranged slidably in the hollow portion; an inlet 3 arranged in the valve body 2 and flowing oil into the hollow portion; an outlet 4 arranged in the valve body 2 and discharging oil from the hollow portion; and a spring 6 biasing the piston 5. The piston 5 allows communication between the inlet 3 and outlet 4 when moved onto the outlet 4 side by a hydraulic pressure, while it cuts off the communication between the inlet 3 and outlet 4 when moved onto the inlet 3 side by the biasing force.
