<p>A burner apparatus suitable for CCVD (flame) coating is disclosed in which excess heat from the CCVD and other processes is removed from the apparatus by cooling with a heat exchange fluid. Hot gases may be removed and the fluid is also used to cool the regions of the apparatus contacted by the gases.</p>
