Provided are a method and mobile terminal for displaying a prompt message, the display method comprising: classifying the various types of received prompt messages according to contacts; and displaying the prompt messages according to contacts. The present invention can filter the prompt messages according to contacts, thereby obtaining intuitively the prompt message particular to some contact person, and thus improving user experience.
