A convolutional coding method and the coding apparatus, the method comprising: computing, N, a number of encoders required for encoding a data bit sequence to be encoded if determining that the data bit sequence to be encoded exceeds processing capacity of a single encoder; dividing the data bite sequence to be encoded into N subsequences, which are allocated to the N encoders; respective encoders encoding the allocated subsequence respectively; concatenating the encoded subsequences from the respective encoders. The invention performs encoding respectively using a plurality of encoders, which limits delays in encoding and decoding of respective encoders within a certain range, improves the processing speed in encoding and solves delay problem for a convolutional encoder in high rate.
