Electronic device, preferably organic electroluminescent device comprises at least one transition metal compound exhibiting at least one transition metal-tin bond. Independent claims are also included for: (1) transition metal compounds of formula (L 1Pt(Sn 2)L 2) (I), ((L 1) 2Ir(Sn 2)L 2) (II), (L 1Pt(Sn 2) 2PtL 1) (III) or ((L 1) 2Ir(Sn 2) 2Ir(L 1) 2) (IV); and (2) manufacturing the electronic device, comprises applying at least one layer by sublimation method, organic vapor phase deposition method, carrier gas sublimation, solution method or by a pressure process. Sn 2tin-containing ligands, preferably hetero-closo-dodeca-borate; L 2monodentate ligand; and L 1bidentate monoanionic Ligand, which with metal forms cyclometalated five- or six-membered ring having at least one metal-carbon bond.
