The present invention provides a discontinuous reception method and equipment in mobility management. A base station receives indication reported by a UE that the UE is approaching a neighbor cell or a measurement report carrying information of the neighbor cell reported by the UE. When it is determined that preset DRX modification condition is satisfied, DRX configuration of the UE is modified and is notified to the UE. The present invention can decrease probability effectively that the measurement report and/or handover command is delayed, thereby decreasing probability of handover failure and RLF and improving user experience and system performance.
