The arrangement (1) has a steering column bracket (5) for fastening a steering column at a cross beam (3) i.e. cockpit cross beam, that is designed as a hollow section. A lower shell (7) is made of metal sheet and comprises an overhead panel (9). The bracket is stuck on an underside (13) of the shell and bolted to the cross beam. The cross beam is arranged between two A-pillars of a motor car body shell structure. The panel is designed as a casting component (17) that comprises a screw socket (19) i.e. casting dome. The panel and the component are made of light metal or light metal alloy.
