<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication apparatus which is capable of performing passage management or position management on an effective reception area in an expanded manner freely and at low costs, without depending on any circuit-like means. <P>SOLUTION: A communication apparatus comprises a base station 1 and a mobile unit 2. The mobile unit 2 is operated or trigger-activated by an induction electromotive force or an induction current generated by an electromagnetic induction phenomenon of an electromagnetic wave transmitted from the base station 1 and transmits a response signal to the base station 1. A conductive member 3 is disposed within an effective reception area A of the mobile unit 2 so as to be electromagnetic induction coupled partially to the electromagnetic wave transmitted from the base station 1. Thus, the overall conductive member 3 functions as a transmission antenna at a side of the base station 1 with respect to the mobile unit 2, and can be operated by operating or trigger-activating the mobile unit 2 with the induction electromotive force or the induction current generated by the electromagnetic induction phenomenon of the electromagnetic wave transmitted from the base station 1.
