<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanning type image display device capable of suppressing image distortion and luminance reduction on the periphery of a screen with the high resolution of an image achieved. <P>SOLUTION: Light beams emitted from laser light sources 11, 12, 13 are incident substantially perpendicularly to a mirror surface of a scanning mirror 50 and are reflected substantially perpendicularly from the mirror surface. The mirror surface of the scanning mirror 50 is rotationally driven repeatedly in two dimensions by a predetermined scanning angle by a scanning mirror drive circuit 5. A polarization beam splitter 40 makes the light beams emitted from the light sources incident on the scanning mirror 50 through a quarter wave plate 41 and makes the light beams having been reflected by the scanning mirror 50 and having passed through the quarter wave plate 41 emitted toward a screen 9. On an emission side of the polarization beam splitter 40, there is provided an element 42 for magnifying an angle of view which magnifies the scanning angle of the light beams N times. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
