PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pharmaceutical composition effective in preventing or treating diseases which an inflammatory cytokine mediates and develops or aggravates, especially septic shock, acute organopathy and organ failure, and various organopathy produced by ischemic reperfusion, and a new compound which is the active ingredient of the same.

SOLUTION: The agent includes an α-lipoyl vitamin E derivative shown by general formula (I), or their salts permitted in pharmacology as an active ingredient, [wherein R1, R2and R3are the same or different and represent a hydrogen atom or a methyl group].
