A liquid crystal display device (101) has a display area (1), and is provided with a liquid crystal display panel (3) including two substrates (21, 22), and a cover transparent member (5) superposed on and affixed to the liquid crystal panel (3) via an adhesive sheet (4). The cover transparent member (5) has a frame area (2) in the vicinity of the outer edge thereof. In the frame area (2), a colored coat (6) which is formed on the cover transparent member (5) by the same material as a first reference member that is a member disposed in a film shape so as to adhere to the surface of either of the two substrates (21, 22) of the liquid crystal display panel (3) is provided. The adhesive sheet (4) covers the cover transparent member (5) while being in contact with the colored coat (6).
