The synchronization unit (12) has a shift collar (18) that is slidingly arranged relative to a synchronous element (14) attached on a countershaft in torque-proof manner. A synchronizer (22) couples synchronous element with a gear wheel of gear box (10). A check wedge synchronization component (26) has locking block (30) whose contact surfaces are engaged with appropriate mating surfaces of synchronous element such that the synchronizer is pressurized to couple between the locking block and synchronous element in circumferential direction (16) against the gear wheel.
