<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planar light source device capable of uniformly dispersing light from point light sources and emitting it as planar light, as well as a transmission image display device. <P>SOLUTION: With the planar light source device 20, each of convex parts 33<SB POS="POST">1</SB>, 33<SB POS="POST">2</SB>of a first and a second light control plates 30<SB POS="POST">1</SB>, 30<SB POS="POST">2</SB>is of a specific cross-section shape, so that light from the point light sources 22 with specific light distribution characteristics can be converted into linear light with uniform luminance. Further, each of convex parts 33<SB POS="POST">3</SB>, 33<SB POS="POST">4</SB>of a third and a fourth light control plates 30<SB POS="POST">3</SB>, 30<SB POS="POST">4</SB>is of a specific cross-section shape, so that light from the point light sources 22 with specific light distribution characteristics can be converted into linear light with uniform luminance. With this, light of the light sources 22 incident into a light control plate unit 21 is converted into linear light beams with uniform luminance in directions nearly orthogonal to each other, by a pair of the first and the second light control plates 30<SB POS="POST">1</SB>, 30<SB POS="POST">2</SB>and a pair of the third and the fourth light control plates 33<SB POS="POST">3</SB>, 33<SB POS="POST">4</SB>, respectively. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
