<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique with which a writing instrument can be deformed from a flat form to a tridimensional form of good grip feeling. <P>SOLUTION: The writing instrument 1A has a foldable boarding 30 including a plurality of boards(31a and 32a-c, etc.) foldably connected through a hinge line L10 that shows a hinge and other hinge lines (L11-16 etc.) and can transform between the flat form MF and the tridimensional form. As for the writing instrument 1A like this, in the flat form MF, the foldable boarding 30 doubled up by the hinge line L10 forms a plate-like shape together with the holder 2 which holds the writing body 10A. Meanwhile, in the tridimensional form, the foldable boarding 30 folded along the other hinge lines covers both principal surfaces (2f, etc.) of the holder 2 to form a prismatic penholder by moving the hinge line L10 to the vicinity of a side surface 2s of the holder 2.
