<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus, in which toner is replenished in an amount nearly equal to the amount of the toner consumed by development. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: an image holding body holding an image; an exposing device for forming an electrostatic latent image on the image holding body; a developing device for developing the electrostatic latent image with toner; a toner replenishing device for replenishing the developing device with the toner; and a replenishing control unit 90. The replenishing control unit calculates a toner consumption on a basis of a cumulative area of dots with the toner between dots with the toner where the toner adheres and dots without the toner where no toner adheres, the dots constituting a toner image on a basis of image data, and further, calculates the toner consumption by proportionally increasing the toner amount with shorter intervals T1, T3 between adjoining dots with the toner, and controls the toner replenishing device to replenish the developing device with the toner in a replenishing amount in accordance with the calculated toner consumption. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
