The invention relates to a drive belt, in particular a toothed belt (1) and V-ribbed belt, having an elastic main body based on a vulcanisate, comprising a cover layer (2) as the back of the belt and a carcass (4) having a force transmission zone (7), wherein a tension member (3) is embedded in the main body, and wherein the force transmission zone (7) is further provided with a coating (8), in particular in form of a woven fabric. The drive belt according to the invention is characterized in that a reinforcement band (9), or a braided reinforcement section, or reinforcement elements arranged in some zones, preferably made of a metal or a high-strength plastic material are embedded within the carcass (4) between the tension member (3) and the coating (8). In the case of a toothed belt (1), an undulated or meander-shaped reinforcement band (9), which is provided with a perforation (10) for the vulcanized material to pass, is present in particular, capturing the entire tooth area (5) and web area (6). |
