<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochemical test sensor with a smaller capillary channel without sacrificing the accuracy of an analyte concentration determination value. <P>SOLUTION: An electrochemical test sensor 34 includes a base 36, a dielectric layer 48, a reagent layer 52 and a lid 54. The base 36 provides a flow path for a test sample having on its surface a counter electrode 42 and a working electrode 40 adapted to electrically communicate with a current detector. The dielectric layer 48 forms a dielectric window 50 therethrough. The reagent layer 52 includes an enzyme that is adapted to react with the analyte. The lid 54 is adapted to mate with the base 36 and to assist in forming a capillary space with an opening for the introduction of the test sample thereto.
