The system has a counter-vibration generating unit (1) arranged outside of the X-ray source (5). The counter-vibration generating unit in operative communication with the X-ray source generates counter-vibration (9) that is phase shifted about 180[deg] with respect to the X-ray source oscillation (8) for reducing the X-ray source oscillation. The counter-vibration generating unit is equipped with an electro-dynamic transducer (2). Independent claims are included for the following: (1) tomography system; and (2) method for active vibration compensation of X-ray source.
