<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress shortening of life of an automatic transaction device. <P>SOLUTION: In an automatic transaction device 1, the number of bills fed from a plurality of pieces of storage means 7a, respectively is counted, states of the fed bills are classified, and the states of the bills are made correspond to every piece of storage means 7a. Thus, inspection of an amount of the bills only in the storage means 7a where there are abnormalities such as multiple feed, poor classification in the state of the fed bills is executed.
