<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two-stage combustion method and a two-stage combustion boiler capable of reducing the emission of a NOx concentration. <P>SOLUTION: The two-stage combustion boiler includes AAPs 3, 4 which are provided on the wall surface of one of a furnace 1 and a plurality of burners 2 provided in a plurality of stages in the vertical direction of one wall surface of the boiler furnace 1 and in a plurality of rows in a width direction thereof which are provided above the burners 2, and charge gas for two-stage combustion for completely burning combustion gas from the burners 2. Reducing agent charging ports 5 are provided in the vertical direction of the wall surface of the furnace opposed to the burners 2 and between the burners 2 and the AAPs 3, 4. L represents a distance between the uppermost burner 2 of the burners 2 and the vertical direction of the furnace of the lowermost AAPs 3, 4 on the wall surface opposed to the uppermost burner 2. The position of each reducing agent charging port 5 in the vertical direction of the wall surface of the furnace is set above the uppermost burner 2 within 1/3L-2/3L.
