<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive device capable of measuring a respiratory parameter of a patient, even when the parameter is not a peak flow. <P>SOLUTION: The device includes: a displacement measuring device 160 to measure a position of a movable plate member 132; a self-oscillation dampener 140 to dampen oscillations of the plate member 132; one or more stiffening members engaging or incorporated into the plate member to increase the resonant frequency of the plate member 132 and reduce flutter; and a conduit 124 providing different directions 164 of air flow at different points along its length to eliminate the effects of gravity on flow measurements. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
