<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus and an imaging element which are capable of obtaining the defocus information of a whole screen and easily producing a natural image. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided an imaging apparatus to which a photographic lens 11A can be attached or which includes the photographic lens 11A and which has an imaging element 20 in which pixels are arranged in a horizontal direction and in a vertical direction and a function for processing a signal from the imaging element 20. The imaging element 20 comprises at least blue pixels, green pixels, and red pixels which are projected onto an independent region on a conjugate surface. The green pixels are arranged checkerwise, the blue pixels are arranged not so as to be adjacent to each other, and the red pixels are arranged not so as to be adjacent to each other. The centroid incidence angles of four adjacent green pixels of each green pixel are different from the center incident angle of each green pixel in the same direction.
