Disclosed in the present invention are a printer (20), and a method and a device for upgrading the firmware thereof. The method for upgrading the firmware of the printer comprises: establishing communication between the printer and a USB memory (10) in which an upgrading file is stored; printing an upgrading prompt information by the printer; receiving an operation information by the printer wherein the operation information is inputted by an operator according to the upgrading prompt information; and selecting the upgrading file from the USB memory according to the operation information to perform the upgrading operation. Such a problem can be solved that the firmware of the conventional printer is difficult to be upgraded without a host computer.
