A battery control device which is capable of keeping a voltage across the terminals of individual cells within an allowable range, while controlling the allowable power per assembled battery unit, is provided. This battery control device limits the allowable power of an assembled battery according to how close the closed-circuit voltage of a single cell is to the upper limit or lower limit of the allowable range.
