An optical module comprises: a first plate-shaped member (10) having a light-permeable optical component (12) formed by etching a silicon area (11); and a second plate-shaped member (20) having light-reflecting optical components (mirrors 21-24) that reflect light that has passed through the light-permeable optical component (12). The first and second plate-shaped members (10, 20) are joined together and the optical path for the light that passes through the light-permeable optical component (12) follows the component-forming surface of the first plate-shaped member (10) and the main surface of the second plate-shaped member (20). As a result, the light-reflecting optical components and the light-permeable optical component can be arranged close together and an optical module and a production method therefor that are capable of fulfilling requirements relating to substrate characteristics, even if said requirements are contradicted by the optical component, can be achieved.
