The ballast has a socket for connection of an electrical device, and a plug portion for connecting with a connection point of a main power supply. An integrated voltage measurement device (29) measures voltage resting against the plug portion. A circuit breaker part is arranged in a current path between the socket and the plug portion. An integrated regulation- and control device (1b) releases a voltage supply from the plug portion to the socket based on the measured voltage. A temperature sensor (19) is attached at the regulation- and control device.
